Barbara has been supporting our team as a certified mountain hiking guide since spring 2024. She was born in Slovenia and has lived in Carinthia since 2019. She loves the varied hiking areas and nature in her adopted home, which she explores both on foot and by mountain bike. For Barbara, the Katschberg is the ideal hiking area, as you can experience so much in just one hour's walk: the rugged cliffs of the Tauern mountains, the grassy Nockberge mountains and the many different valleys in between. Off you go on a hiking adventure in the great outdoors with Barbara!

During the weekly, leisurely walk around the hotel, you will get to know our local medicinal herbs and plants, learn lots of interesting facts about their possible uses for health, in the kitchen, as natural and healthy body care and the sustainable benefits for humans & animals. We also harvest herbs from our climatic raised beds, which we then process.

Whether you want to take it easy on the blue course or dare to tackle the ‘Extreme’ course - the climbing park on Katschberg has just the right challenge for every age group and level of difficulty.

THE CAGE indoor sports hall provides the necessary adrenaline kick or a great bad weather programme. The sports hall is located right next to the Mountain Budget Hotel BASEKAMP and offers a climbing wall, a trampoline, a jump bag and much more. The indoor sports hall is open in summer from 1 June to 31 October on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 - 16:00.

The Katschhausen adventure playground is a real highlight. A natural playground with everything a child's heart desires and lots of interactive play opportunities to discover.

An exciting alpine playground awaits you on Katschberg, directly at the Aineckbahn summit station at 2,200 m above sea level. For the little ones, there is a special climbing and balance course at the alpine playground, which is specially adapted to their size.
TIP: The ride on the Aineckbahn cable car is free with the Mountain & Valley Card!

Is there anything better than feeling the wind in your hair on a speedy ride in hot temperatures? A ride on the summer toboggan run is therefore a must-do activity on Katschberg in summer.

‘The happiness of the earth lies on the back of a horse.’ After a short hike to the Gontal valley, the Ponyalm at the Pritzhütte is eagerly awaiting all pony fans. Here the ponies can be stroked, groomed and even ridden for a short round - so let's go!

There is a special kind of treasure hunt for all Sherlocks on the Katschberg. The geocaching starting point is at Aineck, which you can easily reach with the Aineckbahn cable car. With the help of a GPS device, all the treasure chests can be explored and opened during a fun scavenger hunt.
